Mark Twain’s Autobiography, Volume Two

The second volume of Mark Twain’s Autobiography has now been published by the University of California Press. The next part of a monumental book, and a monumental job of editing.

I have read the autobiography part 2 and I love it…as I love most of Twain’s work. Part 2 is very funny, very touching, and excellent use of the English language, structuring sentences beautifully and using just the right word at the right time. Some of Twain’s attacks on people he was unhappy with are as funny as anything I have read in a long time. One fellow who had irritated Twain and had died would need a fan Twain said, based on where Twain said the gentleman had surely gone.
